March is the National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month.
Detection of colorectal cancer (CRC) or its precursors in early stages improves the change of survival and reduces cost of treatment. Quantitative iFOBT is a widely used tool in screening CRC and estimating the need and urgency of future investigations, such as colonoscopy. COVID-19 has suspended the CRC screening in many countries. The interruption of screening causes delayed diagnosis and more advanced stage cancers, and the impact will be greater as long as the screening remains suspended and limited.
